This is the third in our series on the 10 C’s to Building Momentum.
It has been said that your income will be the average of the five people with whom you spend the most time. It makes sense, and I believe it is also broader in perspective than that. I believe your success depends very much on your attitude and values first (personal responsibility), then the attitude and values of those who are in your inner circle (personal associations).
We’ve all observed rooms full of people where the atmosphere changed based on the entry of just one person – a person with an outstandingly good attitude or an equally outstanding bad attitude. It can be a pleasant experience or a really bad one, depending on just one person.
I was very blessed this week to be able to host a wonderful group of people at the Holiday Networking Event. It was a great experience, and it truly was a reflection of the people who attended. These are people who are driven to serve and succeed, people who are focused on bringing their gifts to the table in order to help others where there is a need.
So let me ask you this: Are you surrounding yourself with those who will pull you up, or those who will pull you down? Are you surrounded by drama or supported by solid relationships? Are you surrounding yourself with people who are high energy, goal-oriented, focused, and who can connect you with like-minded people with different talents? Who do you allow to speak into your life – those who are actively seeking purpose and choosing to make a difference, or those who simply complain about their existence and do nothing to change it?
And here is the more compelling question: Which type of person are YOU?
Just as much as your inner circle should be composed of those who are driven to lift others, you must do the same for them. As you grow and become the person you were meant to be, you will most likely find yourself in new and greater circles – circles that are growing and uplifting, and that are connected to circles so far beyond your current realm, you can’t imagine them yet. It creates an amazing ripple effect.
Take a look in the mirror and at your current inner circle. Are you in the LOSER’S CIRCLE or the WINNER’S CIRCLE? Is it time to make a change?
