To see the process of transformation begin in a nation is a gratifying sight, but to be a part of transformation beginning in a nation is an honor and a privilege.
As a part of a group of 150 leadership coaches and trainers of The John Maxwell Team, the privilege and honor was mine to experience.
We went to Guatemala with a plan to train 19,000 leaders in a roundtable facilitation process designed to transform the nation of Guatemala. We left having trained approximately 24,000 leaders. Top leaders from the military, faith based community, the family, media and arts, educational and business community all “showed up” prepared to engage in transformation.
They left prepared to return to their respective organizations and embark upon a 30 week process of facilitating 15 Laws of Growth (John C. Maxwell book) and 15 Values important to the people of Guatemala as identified through a survey in Guatemala.
Lessons from Guatemala:
(1) My mentor, John C. Maxwell once told me, “You can do something good by yourself, but you will never be able to doing anything great by yourself.” Guatemala was a perfect example of greatness erupting from collaboration among Guatemala Prospera, Equip, The John Maxwell Company, The John Maxwell Team and La Red. An effort of collaboration done so well that it was seamless to the eyes, the ears, and the heart.
(2) That it is possible for a nation to embrace a transformation process among its leaders.
(3) That everything does rise and fall on leadership as I could feel the nation rising as we embraced in this transformational journey.
(4) That at the core, no matter where we live, our nationality, or problems we all want the same things: a healthy family, community, economy, government, educational system and a peaceful nation.
And finally, when we reach out to assist our neighbors in transformation, healing, whatever it is…….the transformation begins in us first. I was tremendously blessed to have gone to Guatemala and to have met, laughed with, and worked aside my beautiful brothers and sisters in Guatemala. I will surely go again!
The experience cannot be fully described, only experienced but hopefully this video will provide some insight to the experience.
